 Philip "Frank" Sharlow
Visual Arts

f.sharlow@gsaanh.com

Frank Sharlow is a native of upstate NY and has been an interdisciplinary visual artist since high school.  He moved to New Hampshire in 1996 and realized immediately it felt like home.  Frank graduated Summa Cum Lade from Plymouth State University (PSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Arts Education.  He was the recipient of the Art Educator of the Year award from PSU in 2013.  He has since earned his Master of Education degree and continues to work towards his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Arts Leadership and Learning from PSU.

Frank spent 7 years teaching within the Franklin NH School District where he worked with Casey Family Services coordinating art lessons as well as working in the Special Education Program at the middle school level.

As a founding teacher of Granite State Arts Academy, Frank has had the unique pleasure of being a part of the school from its inception. GSAA’s arts-based mission and arts integrated curriculum have been a continual motivation for Frank’s passion to provide quality arts experiences for students. “As students encounter challenges in various art making activities, they are given opportunity to employ innovation and problem solving.  These are skills that transfer over not only to other content areas academically, but to real life skills that they can carry with them a lifetime.”
